Overview

ERA is a national association of the leading developers of environmentally impaired properties. Its goals are:

  • To serve as a balanced national leadership group that can speak with authority on the issues surrounding the redevelopment of environmentally impaired property, or brownfields.
  • To provide a forum for the exchange of information and ideas about the development of brownfields.
  • To educate the owners of environmentally impaired real estate, as well as the general public, about the concept of environmental redevelopment and to promote the free market for the disposition and development of environmentally impaired property.
  • To give voice to the interests of environmental redevelopers, including advocating programs to enhance the availability and marketability of environmentally impaired real estate.

ERA is currently engaged in the following principal activities:

  • Educating the market about brownfields redevelopment, including the promotion of the sale of brownfields to environmental redevelopers as a desirable risk-reduction strategy.
  • Publicizing successful brownfields redevelopment projects, including the benefits and results of such projects.
  • Publicizing the benefits of environmental redevelopment, including urban or community renewal, increasing employment and tax base, and enhancing public health and safety.
  • Promoting industry views with US EPA, The White House, Congress and other federal agencies, including providing comments on proposals affecting industry.
  • Disseminating information to ERA members about EPA proposals, policy initiatives, proposed legislation, rulemakings, budget items, tax incentives, and other governmental matters affecting the industry.
  • Educating ERA members about developments affecting the industry, including SEC reporting, tax incentives, financing, and insurance.
  • Providing input for industry consensus standards (i.e., ASTM, ISO)
  • Collaborating with other industry groups, such as National Association of Manufacturers, Chemical Manufacturers Association, American Bankers Association, to promote industry goals.
